Up in the Air: George Clooney in talks to star

George Clooney is in talks to star in , an adaptation of the Walter Kirn novel that Jason Reitman adapted and will direct for DreamWorks.

Clooney will play a ruthless professional who specializes in "career transition counseling" (a euphemism for firing people). His only joy comes from the prospect of notching his millionth frequent flier mile, a goal he pursues with zeal as the rest of his life falls apart because he is constantly on the road.

The project is set up at the Montecito Picture Co., which has its first-look deal with DreamWorks.
